Ronald Gillespie studied chemistry and became an expert in molecular chemistry, particularly the geometric properties of molecules. He has received numerous honorary degrees and awards, including the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Prize, the Tory Medal (Royal Society of Canada), and the Noranda Award. He likes sailing, skiing and traveling.
